Day 1: Bangkok Arrival

You will be welcomed at the airport and taken directly to the hotel in centre of Bangkok in a private vehicle. Check in hotel.
You can then choose to relax at your Hotel or energy permitting, stretch your legs by taking a walk through the busy streets of Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok City Tour

AM: Picked up from hotel, then you will be transferred to Wat Phra Kaew, the chapel of the Emerald Buddha, which houses the world’s most precious image of The Lord Buddha, the 75cm statue of jade sits atop an 11m golden pedestal surrounded by the lavish mural and richly decorated pavilions. Next, we’ll move to visit The Grand Palace – one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court. It used to be the residence of the Kings of Thailand, which encompasses several major buildings (the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, The Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House and The Funeral Palace).

PM: Picked up by tour guide and transferred to Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) for a visit before enjoy a discovery trip into the canals of Thonburi by a long-tailed boat, passing by venerable temples among lush greenery, wooden houses built on stilts, coconut groves, garlanded shrines and spirit houses and vendors offering goods on their boats. Bangkok was given the name the “Venice of the East”. Life along the river and canal has become an inseparable part of the Thai lifestyle. A boat cruise allows visitors to see the Thai way of life along both banks, scenes of a traditional lifestyle which has hardly changed over the years.

Day 3: Bangkok - Full day Ayutthaya

You will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to Ayutthaya
Arrive at the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, built during the Ayutthaya era, we then visit the Ancient City, including Wat Maha That, the heart, and soul of the Ayutthaya people, a classic temple ruin of Ayutthaya and famous for the picturesque Buddha head engulfed by the Bodhi tree roots. The foundation size, remaining prangs, and towers attest the significance during its time. Wat Na Phra Mane – Remains in perfect condition, as it was used as the Burmese headquarters and Wat Lokayasutharam that has a mysterious past, whereby its origins are unknown, to see the largest reclining Buddha of Ayutthaya at 8 meters high and 42 meters long. After visiting the Ayutthaya Historical Park, we’ll return to Bangkok by Cruise, Lunch on the cruise (buffet Lunch) “Delicious Meals served in the luxurious surroundings of the cruise boat.” Throughout the journey, you will be able to watch the Chao Phraya River banks scenery from the River Sun Cruise, either on deck in the fresh cool tropical air or from the refreshing air-conditioned passenger room. Either view you get an amazing ling clear view of the life of the inhabitants that dwell along the river, and the unforgettable scenery of children as they greet the visitors going by, making it an altogether worthwhile experience.
Arriving at the city, we’ll pass the Royal Grand Palace, Followed by Wat Arun. (The Temple of Dawn). The temple was the former palace when the Thai capital of Ayutthaya was replaced by Thonburi. Then transfer back to the hotel.

Day 4: Bangkok – Flight to Hanoi

Time will be on your own till check out hotel and you will be transferred to the airport for flight to Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi City Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, dive into the sights sounds and aromas of Hanoi. Start with Ho Chi Minh Complex including his Mausoleum (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed all afternoon, every Monday & Friday, and from late September until December), the Presidential Palace, the historic Stilt house, and the One Pillar Pagoda.

Continue on our journey through Hanoi, we will drive to Tran Quoc Pagoda (which means “Stabilizing the Nation”), the oldest pagoda constructed in the sixth century in the Westlake and also a famous attraction for pilgrims.
From there, we’ll head to the Temple of Literature. Originally built in honor of Confucius by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong in 1070, a university was added to the grounds six years later. The university provided education to the royal family and children of the aristocracy or “mandarins”.

Around 12.30: you will have lunch at a restaurant. Afterward, you’ll visit Hoan Kiem Lake, the heart and soul of Hanoi. We’ll then take a short drive to visit the Museum of Ethnology, a museum of the 54 officially recognized Ethnic Groups in Vietnam (Ethnology Museum is closed every Monday). Afterward, take a cycle rickshaw ride through the Old Quarter then enjoy a Water Puppet show, a uniquely northern Vietnamese art form depicting scenes from rural life and episodes of national history.

From 18.30 – 18.00, return to your hotel, the rest of the day will be free.

Day 6: Hanoi – Halong – Overnight on Boat

After breakfast at your hotel, you will leave Hanoi for Halong Bay. The journey is through the rich farmlands where you can observe the everyday life of Vietnamese villagers. Arriving in Halong Bay in the late morning and you will board a traditional “junk” boat. You will begin a relaxing and unforgettable cruise around the breathtaking and unique limestone karsts and islets. A delicious fresh seafood lunch will be served as you cruise this spectacular bay, a UNESCO listed site.

Towards the end of the day, the boat will set anchor for the night. As the sun sets over the bay, dinner will be served with fresh seafood, salad, and fruit. You will spend the night in your private cabin aboard the Junk in Halong Bay.

Day 7: Halong Bay – Hanoi – Evening Flight to Hue

Early risers can enjoy an unforgettable sunrise over the bay. On a clear day, you will have the chance to see the sunrise over the spectacular horizon, reflecting in the pristine waters of the bay.
Enjoy breakfast while the boat slowly cruises back to the jetty. Disembark at around noontime and take your vehicle to Hanoi airport (breaks on the way) for a late afternoon flight to Hue.

Upon arrival in Hue airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Time will be on your own and Dinner will be at your own expense.

Day 8: Hue City Tour

Take a traditional dragon boat trip on poetic Perfume River, stop to visit Thien Mu (Celestial Lady) Pagoda. This iconic seven-story pagoda is regarded as the unofficial symbol of the city, overlooking the River. You will also see the Austin car which took Monk Thich Quang Duc to HCMC where he famously set himself on fire in 1963 as a dramatic protest against the unfair treatment of Buddhists by the Diem regime. The photo of his self-immolation is one of the most well-known images of the war.

We will continue to visit the Royal Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled the country from 1802 till 1945. You will explore the ancient and atmospheric walled Citadel which contains the former Imperial Palace and the Forbidden Purple City. You will have a chance to visit Hue Royal Antiques Museum – A collection of ornaments from the Nguyen dynasty. After that, stop to visit at Dong Ba Market – the famous market in Hue to discover daily life and get more experience about local people here. Have lunch at the restaurant.

You will spend the afternoon exploring Hue’s famous royal tombs, illustrious examples of the Grand Dynasty’s past, and garden houses. First, we will visit Minh Mang’s tomb that is located in a tranquil setting of gardens and ponds. Next point will be the Emperor Khai Dinh Mausoleum, considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque works of architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. On the way back to town, you will visit a local workshop where you can see how incense sticks and traditional conical hats are made.

Around 16.30 you will be taken back your hotel.  The rest of the day will be free, with dinner on your own.

Hue is popular not only for its attractive historical monuments of the Nguyen Dynasty but also for its richness in culture and cuisine
17:30 We’ll start walking to foodie street to enjoy special cakes such as Banh Beo, Nam, Loc…( water fern cake, steamed rice pancake with shrimp and rice dumpling cake ) that are made with rice flour.
Then we’ll continue to Han Mac Tu street along the Perfume River. Here you will enjoy clam dishes such as Com hen or Bun Hen (mussel rice, mussel noodle), you can also enjoy the atmosphere of a beautiful and peaceful river.
Wander on Le Loi street then over Trang Tien Bridge and visit the colorful Dong Ba market to try Bun Thit Nuong (Grilled pork Bocelli ) or Bun bo Hue (Hue beef noodle soup) you can see a lot of ingredients for food, and explore the local life.
After then we will walk on to Thuong Tu southeast gate of the Imperial Citadel for Banh Khoai (Hue pancake). We’ll continue walking to the night market, where you can purchase souvenirs such as sesame candies, conical hats, Ao Dai (traditional outfit).
On the way back, you can drink some beer, and share your opinions of the evening!
21:00 Tour ends, and you will return to your hotel.

Day 9: Hue – Danang – Hoi An Walking Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Hoi An, about 150km from Hue. En-route you will stop to visit the Lang Co Beach, Cloudy pass and Marble Mountain. The Marble Mountains are a cluster of five hills made from limestone and marble in Da Nang. It’s also a well-known pilgrimage site with peaks, caves, tunnels, and temples all just waiting to be discovered. Reaching the summit, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views.

You’ll continue on to the town of Hoi An. From the 16th to the 18th century, Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port. Today it is a quaint riverside town popular with tourists for its eclectic architecture, and tailor shops who will make an outfit in 24 hours for you!

You will arrive in Hoi An early afternoon, after check-in at the hotel, we’ll take a walking tour through the winding narrow streets of the Ancient Quarter, visits Chua Ong Pagoda, The Assembly Hall, The 200-year-old Tam Ky house and the Japanese Covered Bridge. You will also attend a traditional music show and explore the Lantern making factories, a traditional hand-made product of Hoi An.

Dinner will be on your own tonight.

Day 10: Hoi An – Free Day

A charming town, Hoi An is perfect for you to spend a day wandering around, exploring things by yourself. You can have clothes tailor-made and completed within 24hrs at reasonable prices, or have a relaxing bike ride through beautiful local villages, or relax on the Cua Dai beach or An Bang beach.

Time: From 08.15am – 01.00pmWe start the day (8.15am) with a welcome drink at Hai Café – meeting point (98 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hoi An Ancient Town)
Visit Hoi An colorful market, and experience the amazing sights, sounds, and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.
We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is handy.
On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb garden, before learning about some of Hoi An and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – the Red Bridge chefs first demonstrate each dish before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, we sit down and eat what we have cooked.
Bring your swimsuit and after the cooking tour has finished relax and enjoy the free use of our 20-meter swimming pool – towels and showers provided.

Day 11: Hoi An – Danang – Flight to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) – Saigon City tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and be transferred to the airport for your flight to HCMC at mid-morning.
Arrive in HCMC, you will be picked up by our driver and driven in a private vehicle to your hotel to leave luggage and take a rest (check-in time at the hotel is normally 14.00)

In the afternoon, join an HCM city tour. Depart from your hotel to visit:

HCMC Notre Dame Cathedral was constructed between 1863 and 1880 by French colonists. It is a famous Romanesque cathedral in Southern Vietnam. Notre Dame Cathedral is also in the center of the Paris square, France.

HCMC Post Office is one of the oldest buildings in Ho Chi Minh City. It was built between 1886 and 1891, based on Gustave Eiffel’s design, a famous French architect and has become the busiest post office in Vietnam. Here you can send postcards, buy stamps and books, change money, buy souvenirs and enjoy the elegant architecture. At first sight, visitors may feel they are seeing an old 20th-century railway station in Europe!

Reunification Palace (formerly known as Independence Palace) has stayed in the mind of many generations. It is the famous historical building which went through the two fierce wars against the French and Americans. It displays many pictures, weapons, and other artifacts in the basement under the palace.

War Remnants Museum is the most popular tourist attraction in Ho Chi Minh City. The atmosphere inside the newly-renovated museum is quiet and hushed. The museum shows the horrors and the effects of war on the people. Especially, the victims of the chemical of Agent Orange and the tiger cage display of Vietnam.

The Jade Emperor Pagoda or Phuoc Hai pagoda was built by the city’s Cantonese community at the beginning of the 20th century. This is one of the most attractive pagodas in the city, dedicated to various Cantonese divinities, in a mixture of Taoism and Buddhism styles.
Visit an authentic Vietnamese market. These vendors sell a variety of products, such as seafood, vegetable, daily tools, clothes. You can find everything in a genuine Vietnamese market at affordable prices. After finishing the tour, our guide will escort you back to your hotel.
The evening will be free to do as you please.

Day 12: Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels – Free Time

After breakfast at the hotel, at around 8.30am, we’ll depart from Ho Chi Minh City to Cu Chi Tunnels, that’s about 80km from Ho Chi Minh city. The tunnel system was built by the Viet Cong in the war battles in the South of Vietnam. The tunnels are a sobering insight into the dedication of the Viet Cong who lived almost entirely underground in the narrow and claustrophobic tunnels, for up to 10 years! Upon arrival, you will have a chance to watch a brief video that will introduce you to the Cu Chi tunnels, followed by a walk through the reserve. In this walk, you can see the Secret Entrance to the tunnels, workshops for the handmade weapons, the clinic bunker, the commander bunker, the meeting bunker and the kitchen bunkers, which are all open and above ground. Nearby is a chilling exhibition of the traps and weapons used against the American GIs. If you are brave, you can experience the Cu Chi tunnels by crawling inside to see how difficult life must have been, and discover the 3 levels underground.

For those who do not like the claustrophobic atmosphere, you do not have to crawl into these tunnels! The small replica displayed outside will give you a perfect example of what the interior looked like.

We will return to HCMC around noon, arriving around 14.00pm. You will be dropped off at your hotel to spend the rest of the day on your own.

A foodie night out on the town.

This HCMC night tour is part night excursion, part street food adventure. Experience HCMC nightlife the way locals do, all from the back of a vintage Vespa scooter.

To start off this HCMC night tour, enjoy drinks at our Vespa-themed café, Café Zoom, to watch “as the world goes by” (as said in the Lonely Planet guidebook). Throughout the night, try a variety of food and drinks at 2 local restaurants and samplings of HCMC’s best authentic local food. Zoom past the famous must-see sights of Ho Chi Minh City while in the bustling traffic. We’ll also go to a Vietnamese-style coffee shop with special live music, and then wrap up the evening at an exciting music bar where the new generation of Vietnamese unwind and flaunt their unique styles.

Guests ride pillion behind our drivers to enjoy and experience the Vietnamese nightlife with friends. This tour includes free-flowing drinks and all you can eat, so come with an appetite!

Day 13: Saigon – Mekong Delta (Ben Tre) – Can Tho

After breakfast and check out, your private tour guide will pick you up and take you to Ben Tre town, on the way to the heart of the Mekong Delta, via some rustic country roads (travel time approximately 2 hours). The Mekong Delta, popularly known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, is famous for its vast rice fields, orchard farms, coconut trees, numerous waterways, and beautiful landscapes.
When you arrive at Ben Tre town, you will embark on a motorized boat trip along the scenic Ben Tre River, visiting various local industries along the way such as the small local factories where bricks and sleeping mats are made. You will take a leisure walk along the village lanes visiting the local homes to sample dry fruits and enjoy honey tea while enjoying a local Tai Tu music show. You will also visit a coconut mill workshop where the local delicacy of coconut candy is produced, and a range of coconut husk and fiber products are skillfully handcrafted.
You will then take a small sampan boat through palm-fringed back canals, gliding peacefully along the hidden waterways surrounded by an immense variety of tropical plants. The quiet, rural setting is a welcome and restorative retreat to the frenetic buzz of Saigon which seems so far away.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant where you will sample some of the local cuisines.
After lunch, you will return to the boat to head back to the road and continue the drive through the fields and towns of the Mekong to Can Tho city.
After arriving in Can Tho and checking in to your hotel, the rest of the day will be yours to explore at your leisure. We suggest you see the town on foot or by predicable or find a quiet place for a cocktail by the river.

Day 14: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Saigon

Breakfast at hotel, taking a leisurely boat trip to explore the picturesque tributaries of the Lower Mekong river (Bassac River), then proceed to visit Cai Rang floating market, which is the liveliest in the whole religion. Take in the beautiful scenery and the daily activities of the locals who live along the Mekong canals and roam through the village, seeing many fruit gardens. Visit a rice husking mill and a rice-noodles-making shop. Back to the riverside for lunch before transferring back Saigon. Arriving Saigon at around 17.00pm. The rest of the day will be free for you to explore Saigon by yourself.

Day 15: Saigon – Departure

Time will be on your own. Depending on the time of your departure flight, your private driver will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport for your outbound flight. Say goodbye and we wish you a safe flight onwards.

Amazing Vietnam and Cambodia personalized tour

My husband and I had not been to Vietnam or Cambodia before. We wanted a tour of the main tourist stops and also to explore some parts ourselves. Emma did a fantastic job of guiding us through the options and creating a personalized itinerary.

We were very extremely happy with her choice of comfortable mid-range hotels located close to shops, markets and local restaurants so we didn’t need transport to get around. Any changes, no matter how small were communicated by Emma in advance. She kept in touch all through to check we were safe and having a good time.
The tour guides and drivers entertained us with their jokes on the longer journeys and were great company throughout.

All the internal flights, pick-ups and drop-offs from the airport were taken care of as well as all entrance fees for the sites/attractions. This takes the hassle of haggling about transport costs and options, especially in view of the huge figures in exchange rates that involved dealing in thousands and millions of Vietnam Dong. There is a big tipping culture, so be prepared to have plenty of spare cash for this, but most places also accept American dollars.

Due to the personal service from Emma and attention to detail, our trip was hassle-free, leaving us free to soak up the atmosphere, sights and smells that have left us feeling we would like to return and explore more next time. The highlight for me was the overnight cruise along Halong Bay. It was so calm and peaceful, just what I needed!! I would thoroughly recommend Emma and Asia Trip Deals, if like me you just want a holiday and not the stress of spending hours trawling through the internet looking for hotel/flight deals and places to visit.
